Window’s 7 name gets official
Window’s 7 has gotten an official name and if you guessed “Window’s 7″ then you’re right. According to Mike Nash (from the official Vista blog) they (Microsoft) thought it better to give it the logical name of “7″ because “it just makes sense.” He also goes on to note that giving it any other name would not keep true to the mission of staying firmly rooted in “WIndow’s Vista.”
PS3, PSP getting firmware update
I will warn you that this is not exciting news. There’s nothing much to talk about although we were hoping they could bring the magic of touch screen to the PSP without a hardware upgrade. But since they did not I guess we’re going to be stuck with a few minor but needed updates.
Apple: MacBooks hit by faulty NVIDIA chips
HP and Dell came clean as to why their screen displays were not working, and now Apple has just released a support document that also says they were hit by the same faulty type of NVIDIA graphic cards. If you own a Macbook that was made between May ‘07 and September ‘08 then you are likely going to be affected by it.
OLED touch control
Fraunhofer IPMS is currently demonstrating a new OLED at the Plastic Electronic 2008. The OLED can be controlled by human touch or simply waving ones hand in front of the device. While not a totally new technology, Fraunhofer gets major kudos for not requiring additional hardware for the device to work.
Strata = Window’s 7
Before you go cyber squatting windowsstrata .com or its variants (although you’d probably be too late) just finish this article. Remember the PDC (Professional Developers Conference) that is happening this month. Well it seems like Microsoft made a little mistake by “revealing” the actual name of the next Window’s OS. The website first read Windows Strata which was quickly pulled down and replaced with “Window’s 7.”
