The movie stars bible, the Hollywood Reporter is saying that the huge movie-rental company Blockbuster is about to announce, within the next few days, the launch of a set-top box for streaming movies. The Vudu-style set-top box seems destined to be launched shortly, creating additional competition for the companies ailing movie rental stores.

Many observers believe that this is a dubious business move that will only add another new platform to an already crowded market. The same observers believe that the only way such a move could work for the company would be if they decided to give the boxes away for free.
