Dean Kamen, the entrepreneur behind Segway, has a solution for our water problems with this water purification system he has named Slingshot. Dean believes that Slingshot can turn any liquid into clean, safe and drinkable water. Any liquid would include sewage, sea water and even urine.

Slingshot utilizes vapor compression distillation, and does not need any filtering. If that’s not enough it does not run on electricity or even gasoline, it is cow-dung powered. And as you would expect, it obviously produces it own electricity supply capable of lighting a couple of dozen homes.

Dean is hoping to be able to send several thousand of these amazing gadgets out to poor villages in developing nations. He wants to partner up with small businessmen in these areas to potentially change millions of lives. He believes that the gadgets will retail for less than $2000, not bad when you think it may change the world.
