IBM “Racetrack”, Mega-Storage
IBM boffins have been working hard down in their secret cave laboratory, on a new kind of memory that they claim will hold up to 100 times more data than anything else on the market today. Named by the boffins as “Racetrack”, this new type of memory, like flash memory, has absolutely no moving parts. But it is capable of writing and rewriting time and again without fail, which as you may know is a downfall of flash drives.
This may mean that an iPod-size gadget with huge numbers of terabytes of data storage. Such a device is capable of holding a complete huge library of HD movies in one little place. A possible oncoming problem for BluRay that already struggling to find an interested market.
