The 45 Nanometer Chip Processor by Intel
Intel has recently announced the coming of its new 45 nanometer chip processor which was called “atom.” The materials used for this processor were lead-free and halogen-free making it a “green’” product.
“Atom” is a low-temperature and energy efficient chip that has twice the density of Intel 65 nanometer technology. It has a double amount of transistors into the same silicon space which means that there are more than 400 million transistors for dual-core processor and 800 million for quad-core.
The leading chip manufacturer in the market is planning to compete with other companies in terms of attracting users that are fast becoming web-centric. The chip’s primary design is to power only highly mobile computing devices optimized for Internet use. In fact, only two months ago, Intel has already introduced its new category name for portable PCs called “netbooks”.
Netbooks are a low-cost laptops used for surfing the Internet and other performing functions like word processing. Recently launched netbooks that are already out in the market are Neo’s eXplore X1, Classmate PC, HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, and the Asus Eee PC.
Netbooks are usually run by XP or Home operating systems. These typically weigh less than 2 lbs; possess solid state drives for storage. It also usually features a 10 inch display (or less).
